The 'Gaspesian British Heritage Village' is being consolidated into the section closest to the highway - Britville - which is now the 'animated' part of the site. It is here that visitors will meet Claude Gagnon, the blacksmith, as well as Darlene Meredith in the Willett Sweet Shop and Tearoom. François Duranleau is in charge of guided tours - his team of guides will give the visitor access to the buildings, their history and, most of all, the stories of the people and their communities. 'Team Britville' has been carefully harvesting the treasures which, over the years, had become dispersed around the site - these will constitute the core of the 'Everyday Treasures of Britville' exhibition. As the visitor explores the site with their guide they will encounter these objects in the buildings they enter. The living room of the Gendron house is becoming 'The Ten Sisters', a pub-restaurant with decoration and events that will reflect the shipbuilding history of the site. |
